UND Sports!

The boys got to go to two UND sporting events in the past week! They get in free to most games as a part of the UND Junior Champions Club. Tammy got two free tickets to the men's basketball game on Saturday and invited me. It was during nap so Tim stayed home with Crosby and I brought the older two.

I gave them a little UND women's basketball history lesson! There are all sorts of pictures of my championship teams in the lobby. They were able to figure out who I was in the pictures!

The did a pretty good job watching the game but their favorite part was...

...treats during half time!

A couple days later the women's hockey team played the U of M and had $1 tickets for adults so we brought the crew! We only stayed for one period being that it was pushing into bedtime. My favorite interaction from the night:

Cooper: "There are sure a lot of girls on the ice."

Me: "We are at a women's hockey game Coops."

Cooper: "Ohhhh!"

Carter: "These girls are GOOD!!"

Brothers! (I Can't Think Of A Better Title)

Fun at the gymnastics center!

The boys play Star Wars often (although ninjas is the new Star Wars around here). I overheard this conversation recently:

 Carter: "Where is your father? No, no...who killed your father?"

Cooper: "I think it goes, 'I am your father!'"

Carter: "Oh. It's so hard to know when we haven't seen the movie."

 I often let them watch a show while I'm getting dinner ready. I'll often come down and find them all in the chair together:)

Some other fun quotes:

The boys have started fighting over girls. They often talk about who they want to marry. It's all pretty entertaining to us:) Here is a conversation we heard after the Christmas program at church:
Carter: "No, I'm going to marry her!"
Cooper: "Well what if she thinks I'm older than you and she wants to marry me?"
Carter: "I stood next to her during the program and she said that we are friends. Wait, do you even know her name?"
Cooper: "No. But I can learn it. And then I think she'll pick me!"

Another funny conversation that pegs their personalities quite well:
Me: "If I let you eat as many cookies as you wanted, how many would you eat?"
Carter: "One. That seems like the wise thing to do."
Cooper: "As many as I want? 100! No wait, ONE THOUSAND!!"

Carter's December 2014 and January 2015 Update

 Another day as the leader in his kindergarten class.

Around 1 pm every day I have the boys either take a nap or rest. On the weekends when Carter is around he rests for a bit and then comes out to join me as I read my Bible. He gets out his Bible and circles all the words that he knows:)  

 Carter lost his first tooth in December! When I asked him what he knew about the tooth fairy he replied, "Basically you lose a tooth and then your mom or dad puts a toothbrush under your pillow! Right?" 

He lost his second tooth a day or two after the first one. Both of them came out when he tried to take his gloves off with his teeth.

 I caught him checking out his new toothless smile in the mirror:)

 He's growing up! After losing his teeth he kept asking when he would get his parent teeth in:)

Carter is really into drawing princesses and princes lately.

 Me: "Hey Carter, can I fix your hair?"

Carter: "Nah, it's just a little bed head!"

 "Hey Mom, take my picture! I'll make a crazy face!"

 We join Carter at school for lunch every couple of weeks. All the boys love it!

 Once a month Carter's school has a R.E.D day (Read Every Day) where parents can come in and read with their kids for the last half hour of school. I brought Cooper for the first time and he enjoyed seeing Carter's classroom and listen to him read. Carter is doing SO WELL with his reading. I'm very impressed!

Hanging out at the UND Women's Hockey game. We only made it through one period. Then the boys had an all out melt down at the concession stand and we knew it was time to head home to bed! Carer still gets so tired by about 7 pm every night. Kindergarten is tiring stuff!!!

Carterisms from the past 2 months:

-I teach Sunday school once a month and Carter loves to come help me with the 3 year olds. 

-I told Carter I was proud of him one day. He replied with, "Well that's okay but I'm proud of God. He's the one that gave me the brain to do all this cool stuff!"

Crosby's December 2014 and January 2015 Update

 You wanted me to take a picture of something you made in Sunday school. I don't think I've ever denied a request to take a picture!!

 You LOVE to help me out. You will help put the dishes away, do laundry, clean up. It's amazing! Just recently you brought me into your room to show me how you cleaned up...

 ...Then I opened your bookshelf up and found where you put all your stuff. It's a good start Crosby Charles:) 

 I snuck a picture of you while you napped on the top bunk at our winter retreat. You are such a big boy and yet still my baby!

 Your smile and charm and sweetness bring such joy to our lives EVERY DAY!!

Crosbyisms from the past 2 months:

-"Mom, can I tell you a story before nap? It's about a boy and a girl and two pieces of candy. The boy gets two and the girl gets none. The end! Oh wait, and I'm the boy and you are the girl. THE END!"

-"Hey mom, you look like a mom!"

-We have sound machines in the boys room and Crosby calls his "the sound monsheen".

-When getting into the shower one night Crosby said, "Mom, these are my nipples. You should probably take them off because I am going to shoot fire out of them soon!"

-While looking through an NBA book that Carter got from the library he asked where daddy was in the book. Our babysitter told him that daddy wasn't in the NBA and Crosby replied with "Yes huh, he goes basketballing all the time!"

Cooper's December 2014 and January 2015 Update

 "Hey Mom, I know this guy. He saved the world!!"

 Cooper's best friend, Mason, was out of town for a week or two. "Hey Mom, can you please take a picture of me and my lego creation to send to Mason. I miss him!"

 It is hard to see on this picture but when Tim asked Cooper which horse he wanted to ride on the carousel, Cooper pointed to the one way on top. "I want to ride THAT ONE, Dad!" He is such a fearless kid!

 I turned around and found Cooper with his shirt half off. When asking him why he said, "Mom, homework makes me sweat!"

Cooperisms from the past 2 months:

-Whenever we are driving around town it is inevitable that somebody will see something, point it out, and Coops will miss it. He gets SO frustrated by this.

-When talking with Cooper in timeout one day he said: "I have the hardest life ever. Nobody in this family gets me. Mason is the only one who understands me. I want to be in his family."

-He still isn't a big fan of school.

-"Mom watch how I get into bed like a ninja. And Mom, have I shown you yet how Super Agents kiss goodnight? And I am so excited for this afternoon that it's like I want to shoot 9 basketballs into one hoop all at once. And that means I'm REALLY EXCITED!"

Cooper's 5th Birthday!

Five years! I'm sure I say this every year but where oh where has the time gone?? Happy birthday to our sweet Cooper John!

 Coops is WAY into ninjas lately. He asked for a ninja party (NOT a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party...he made this very clear although he still likes the TMNT). The boys and I made him a banner and got some sweet ninja balloons. Cooper loved it and they are still up:) 

 Opening gifts. His main requests were for Ninjago items (legos, clothes, books, etc.)

 His other request was to go to Cherry Berry with Mason, Rachel (a Cru student that babysits for us) and our staff team...

 ...our team was so sweet to come out on a Friday night to celebrate with us!

Coops got a 2nd birthday party at pre-school. We brought treats and they made him a crown to wear for the morning!
