Crosby's July 2013 Update

In looking through my pics I realized I took a lot of pics with Cros this month...
 Can't get enough of him!!
He loves going to the park and while swings are still his favorite thing, he is quite adventuresome. But he'll still hang out with me on the seesaw:)
Crosby loves to play in the van. He's a little reckless with nobs and levers so we don't usually let him but he still sneaks in when he can.
He loves looking at pictures of horses or puppies. He'll point to our phone and say, "horse, horse, horse" just hoping we'll find some pictures for him.
He doesn't like to miss out on any action. His big brothers have been biking a lot this summer and while he can't quite do that yet, he can put on a helmet like them. Well, almost like them:) (He keeps putting it on backwards)
Sad face after he finished his 7-11 slurpee.
Cool guy! He is always doing silly things that make us laugh:)

Here are some new words, expressions and memories from the past month:
-He calls me "mom mom" and Tim "da dad"
-When we come get him in his crib he says, "up up up!"
-If he wants something we are drinking he'll say "sip? sip?"
-He has started saying "sorry" and if he can't think of a word he'll say "ummmmm".
-When he sees stairs he gets excited and says "up down up down". He wants to walk down stairs now instead of crawl.
-He calls his blaket "beebee" or "bankie".
-This summer he would give me kisses through the mesh of his pack and play.
-He still loves animals and looking at animal books.
-Some other favorite words of his: he calls his diapers "dipes". If something is torn or broken he looks at me with sad eyes and says "broke".
-His two favorite words have to be "that" and "some". If he doesn't know a word he just points and says "that". If he wants something and doesn't know the word he says "some?". So cute.
-The past couple days have been better but he has hit a bit of the terrible two temper tantrums. Maybe he'll get them all out before two:) Yeah right!!

Brother Fun

I had some random pictures and quotes that I didn't quite know where to put. Voila!
 Awwww!
Hanging out on the deck of our apartment this summer.
There was this statue of a hockey player outside of the place where the boys took swim lessons. Most days after their lesson they would both go by the statue and ask me to take their picture:)
Cheers! A TCBY reward from their summer reading program.

A couple quotes and conversations:
-Carter: "Da da da daaaaaaah!! Look what I see (as he points to a billboard).
Cooper: "Wow, a pig. Good eye, buddy!"
Carter: "Yeah, I see lots of cool stuff!"

-The boys love playing "The Quiet Game". Last person to not talk wins. Tim and I usually lose quickly so we can talk uninterrupted. It is amazing.

-Carter and Cooper prayed with a babysitter the other night while Tim and I were out on a date. We were informed by our sitter that they prayed we would have fun and that we would listen really well to each other:)

-Cooper: "Where does bacon come from?"
Me: "A pig."
Carter: "Where do hot dogs come from?"
Me: "Well that is a little more complicated. Sometimes a pig. Sometimes a cow. Sometimes..."
Cooper: "Where do blueberries come from? A horse?
Tim: "Uh no buddy. They come from a blueberry bush."
Carter: "Where do chickens come from?"
Tim: "Think about it for a minute..."
Carter: "Oh, from a cow!"
I guess we need some Food Education 101 around here!!

A Couple CO Summer Highlights

Enjoying God's beautiful creation. We went on hikes, climbed mountains, and loved being outside!
I really enjoyed the simplicity of life. We had no microwave, no bathtub, just a couple of toys...but they boys are so creative and adaptable.
Swim lessons!
Games with friends and fun with roommates
A new love for climbing trees
Reuniting with old friends and making new ones.
Fun dates around town and seeing Trampled By Turtles in Denver. We were so blessed by friends that offered to watch the boys...so blessed!

Summer Roommates

One of the crazy things about summers on staff with Cru is that you often have roommates. This summer we got to live with our dear friends, the Skalmans, and yes, we are still friends! They have a 3 month old baby boy and the eight of us packed into a college apartment. It got loud and crazy at times, even stressful, but we had lots of fun. Here are some highlights:
Cros looking at pictures of horses on Britta's phone. Or as he calls her, Blitta.
Britta and Levi joining me and the Superheros on another adventure.
 Real life...
Crosby always wanted to be near Levi and to hold him. Once in a while Steven would help and let him have that big boy privilege:)
All three of our boys really loved Levi. Sometimes they expressed their love in ways that Levi didn't really enjoy but usually they could get him to smile:)
 Making smoothies with Britta.
Our boys are all about tattoos and while I like to join them, I never thought we'd get Britta to join us...but, never say never!! Here is sweet Britta with a tatt!!

Hiking the Poudre River

There is so much to do in Colorado! One Saturday morning we took the boys on a little hike on some trails by the Poudre River. This is located less than 10 minutes from campus right in Fort Collins. The boys loved the adventure and exploring. It was a surprisingly fun morning out with the family! (Surprising because I usually have an idea of how I want things to go and with three little ones, it rarely happens that way:))
Lots of trees to climb and woods to explore
The only tricky part was keeping them out of the water:)
 The boys
We spotted a deer right off the trail
We ended our little adventure with a picnic lunch. It was one of those mornings that just left me thankful to the Lord...for our boys, for fun together as a family, for Colorado and being outdoors...so much to be thankful for!

Fort Collins 4th of July

We have spent quite a few 4th of Julys in Fort Collins over the years. Their local parade just keeps getting better!
We got a prime spot to park our chairs
They handed out mustaches and liberty crowns...good times!
 Captain America made an appearance
Some great friends joined us...the Wurglers and Johnsons
We let the boys stay up for fireworks for the first time this year. Cooper was really sleepy and just sat on Tim's lap. Carter was wild and crazy and clearly overtired but having so much fun.
